Draft PrepSOM-6th ACHMM Provisional Agenda

Agenda Item 1: Opening [Host Country]

[13.30-13.40]

  • The Opening session is organized at the discretion of the host country. It will consist of opening remarks by Brunei Darussalam as the host.

 

Agenda Item 2: Election of Co-Chairs

[13.40-13.50]

  • Brunei Darussalam will assume the chairmanship of PrepSOM-6th ACHMM on behalf of ASEAN Member States and will invite the People’s Republic of China to co-chair the meeting, and to deliver remarks. Prior to the start of the Meeting, the ASEAN Co-Chair may call for a round of self-introduction of all delegates. The ASEAN Co-Chair will then present the objectives and expected outputs of the PrepSOM-6th ACHMM.

 

Agenda Item 3: Adoption of Agenda [Co-Chairs]

[13.50-14.00]

  • The Meeting will consider the provisional agenda and may propose amendments for inclusions under the relevant agenda items. The revised agenda will then be adopted by the Meeting.

 

Agenda Item 4: Business Arrangements [Brunei Darussalam]

[14.00-14.05]

  • The Meeting will be held in Plenary. Brunei Darussalam as the host country may inform the Meeting of various arrangements pertaining to the programme of activities for the Meeting.

 

Agenda Item 5:  Follow Up on the 5th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting [ASEAN Secretariat]

[14.05-14.20]

  • The ASEAN Secretariat will present status of implementation of decisions of the 5th ACHMM, particularly progress in implementation of joint activities in the health sector.

 

Agenda Item 6: Outcomes and Recommendations of 6th ASEAN-China SOMHD, 11 August 2016, Brunei Darussalam and 7th ASEAN-China SOMHD, 20 April 2017, Brunei Darussalam

[14.20-14.35]

  • Brunei Darussalam, as the current chair of ASEAN-China SOMHD, will report the summary of outcomes and recommendations of the 6th and 7th ASEAN-China SOMHD. The Meeting will come up with agreed issues to be presented to the ACHMM as consideration for notation, for direction-setting, and/or for endorsement.

 

Agenda Item 7: Consideration of Identification of Priority Areas of Collaboration for 2017-2018 [ASEAN Secretariat]

[14.35-14.45]

  • The ASEAN Secretariat will brief the Meeting on the priority areas of collaboration for 2017-2018, as agreed during the 7th ASEAN-China SOMHD. The Meeting may discuss activities to be undertaken under the collaboration and is also expected to recommend the agreed priority areas of collaboration for ACHMM endorsement.

 

Agenda Item 8: Preparation for the 6th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting, 7 September 2017

                                   

8.1       Consideration of the Provisional Agenda of the 6th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting

            [14.45-15.00]

  • The Meeting will discuss the provisional agenda of the 6th ACHMM and make revision to the draft agenda, if any.

 

8.2       Preparation for Roundtable Discussion (Topic: Technology to Improve Health)

            [15.00-15.15]

  •   The Meeting will discuss and prepare issues that will be discussed during the Round Table Discussion.

8.3       Consideration of Draft Joint Statement of the 6th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting

            [15.30-15.45]

  • The Meeting will review the draft Joint Statement that has been circulated earlier and is expected to agree to submit the document to the Ministers for endorsement. The Co-Chair will inform the Meeting that the content of the document may still be revised during the 6th ACHMM to reflect the outcome of the Round Table Discussion and/or if there are further inputs from the Ministers.

 

Agenda Item 9: Other Matters

[15.45-16.00]

  •  The Meeting will discuss other matters, if any.

 

Agenda Item 10: Date and Venue of the 7th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting and related Meetings, 2019

[16.00-16.15]           

  • The Meeting will discuss the date and venue of the 7th ACHMM and related meetings in 2019. Based on alphabetical order, Cambodia will host the 7th ACHMM and related meetings.

 

Agenda Item 11: Consideration and Adoption of the Report of Preparatory Senior Officials for the 6th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting

[16.15-17.00]

  • Brunei Darussalam, with the assistance of the ASEAN Secretariat, will provide a draft report of the PrepSOM-6th ACHMM at the end of the Meeting. The draft document will be reviewed and finalized during the Meeting. The final report will be presented to the ACHMM for adoption.

 

Agenda Item 12: Closing

[17.00]

  • The Chair will deliver the closing statement prior to the conclusion of the Meeting. A general expression of thanks and appreciation to the host country may be also be given.
